Editor of ‘Ama Rajdhani’ Mr Rabi Das is a distinguished & senior journalist of Orissa, who has been in the profession of Editing journals and Newspaper for the last 30 years. He started his carrier as a student, youth leader and was associated with the ‘young turks’ of the congress party and became president of Orissa Youth Congress from 1971-73. After quitting the post of Youth Congress presidentship, due to ideological differences with the then congress leadership, he joined journalism, became the associated Editor of the weekly ‘Pragativadi’ and attended courses on advance journalism organized by Press Institute of India, New-Delhi. Later he became the editor of the weekly, which was in the forefront of anti emergency writings. He had many confrontations with the sensor authorities, for which the weekly was closed by the police for six months.
In 1979 this weekly became a daily & Mr. Das was in charge of its editorial wing in the capacity of executive editor of the paper. ‘Pragrativadi’ during his period became one of the leading dailies of Orissa. He left the organization in 1998 & joined as Editor of another daily ‘Paryabekhyak’ & continued till 2006. Since Orissa does not have a mid-day newspaper he decided to launch one & ‘Ama Rajdhani’ was launched. The objectives of this newspaper is to inform & educate the people about the happenings in the power corridor and to unearth news behind the news. It is also trying to play the role of a forum for policy debates in Orissa. Mr. Das is well known in Orissa for his powerfull editorials and columns. He is one of the pioneers of investigeting journalism in Orissa.
